About Economical Smart Hut

Economical Smart hut is star event of Tech-invent 2019, organized by Department of Civil Engineering.

The purpose of the event to initialize the ideas of low cost temporary house for the gathering in a particular area.

What to do?

  • Form a team of four students
  • Get yourself registered on website of tech-invent
  • Prepare a plan for model
  • Select the material
  • Make the model room according to dimensions given
  • Test it for strength and weathering effect
  • Show it during the fest (assemble/ test/ de-assemble)
  • Get the prize worth rupees 1 lakh.
  • Dimensions

  • Base: 8 x 8 feet (outer edge at plinth level)
  • Tolerance: 3 inches (in each single direction)
  • Height : 8 feet (Clear height)
  • Floor mat (green color paper mat)
  • Point for small fan to the resides.
  • 15 percent of roof area should be Flat to apply loads.
  • Opening
  • Door: 2’6” x 6’6”
  • Window: 4 feet (width) x 3 feet (height)
  • Get it Checked

    The model will be checked for following conditions


    the load will be applied on roof (over area provided ) in the form of concrete cube and deflection of respective members will be noted down


    The model will be placed under this structure where the water will be showered over your structure with the help of a moving shower rod.


    The model will be tested with wind tunnel apparatus.


    The result will be based on following criteria

  • Assembling time
  • Testing under various conditions
  • Dismantling
  • Reusability of material
  • Aesthetic
  • Economical use of material
  • Space for storage (when not in use)
  • Handling
  • Environment friendly

    Q. Any materials will be provided to us or not?

    A. No , All the material has to be procured by the participants.

    Q. Is there any time limit to assemble and dismantle the structure?

    A. It is a judging criteria, the team having minimum assemble and dismantle time will be scoring more marks.

    Q. Any plagiarism allowed?

    A. Strictly NO

    Q. What is Jury Process and Judgment Criteria?

    A. Already mentioned under Result Section.

    Q. Can it be a team of 3 members or less?

    A. Yes, But not more than Four.

    Q. Is there any compulsion that every member should be present during competition?

    A. Yes.

    Q. Can a team present more than one model?

    A. No.

    Q. Can a member be a part of 2 teams or more?

    A. No.

    Q. How long does it take until the winners will be announced?

    A. On the end of the event .i.e. on the second day.
